Training in the yards

In einer zufälligen Begegnung treffe ich als ausstellender Künstler auf einer Schiffsreise mit der MS Europa2 das Duo MonaLaura. WIR bereisen gemeinsam Australien und beschließen die Projektidee „Die Welt als Bühne“ zu realisieren. Unser zentrales künstlerisches Konzept zeigt einen Dialog zwischen Körperbeherrschung und Ästhetik. Ihre Akrobatik wird vor Hintergründen ungesehener Schönheit inszeniert, dort, wo sonst niemand verweilt. Es sind Landschaften, die sich aus der Reiseroute des Schiffs ergeben oder biografisch bereits aufgeladen sind. Das Projekt verbindet Mobilität, Erinnerung und Gegenwart. Die Bilder vermitteln Intimität und Konzentration, Aneignung des Raums und die Sichtbarmachung des Übersehenen. Die Körper der Performerinnen fungieren als Bindeglied zwischen Landschaft und Bewegung.

During a chance encounter, I meet the duo MonaLaura as an exhibiting artist on a cruise aboard the MS Europa2. We travel together through Australia and decide to realize the project idea “The World as a Stage.” Our central artistic concept shows a dialogue between body control and aesthetics. Their acrobatics are staged against backdrops of unseen beauty, in places where no one else lingers. These are landscapes that arise from the ship's itinerary or are already charged with biographical significance. The project combines mobility, memory, and the present. The images convey intimacy and concentration, appropriation of space, and the visualization of the overlooked. The performers' bodies act as a link between landscape and movement.
